The Kayapo tribe live in the Amazon rainforest in Brazil. These people have a different culture and way of life to our class own is interesting to learn about. This YouTube clip introduces the children to the traditions and way of life of this tribe. It is used as a basis for discussion in the classroom. Teaching Ideas/Activities:
Curriculum Linkage: History, Geography, Literacy, Visual Arts. Note: Children should be placed in mixed ability groupings for research project work for maximum benefit to all. Adult supervision also required for use of ICT. |
Huli Tribe

The Huli tribe live in the rainforest in Papua New Guinea. The members of the tribe speak Huli and Tok Pisin. These people have a number of festivals as part of their tradition during which they complete dances and singing in traditional costume. This PowerPoint presentation and YouTube clip inform children of the tribe's traditions and provoke class discussion about the Huli people. Teaching Ideas/Activities:
